we have a turf, where children that live in a full-block area cannot leave out to get to school. there was a group financing the young men and women to the college, and they were doing well. but the funding stopped last friday. i am concerned about the young people getting to school. i know there are programs and i talked to one this morning with the city hall, the young people wears colored jackets and things but only 12 staff. my concern is a community benefit fund for hunter's point and that's funding for all over the city. but my concern is when funds are given out to so-called cbo's or the same people, it do not reach in my community where it need to be reached. i requested that i would like to see when funds are distributed to so-called groups that are doing something in my community. including the health department, i talked to dr. garcia and learned of 49 groups dealing with the healthy department, then bay view hunter's point should be the healthier community in the world. but people are sick and dying in that area. i asked that when funds are distributed into my communi

we all need to make a living. but my fear is that while a lot of folks are pursuing a piece of the pie, whether it be building trades unions, members, hotel union, lawyers, political lobbyists, they're creating a dichotomy. what is getting lost in the process is the speed which this is going through, environmental and impact review in nine months instead of the typical year and a half is the health impacts that could be made worse by increased traffic congestion and other issues. the department of public health created a healthy development measurement tool to help evaluate projects in regards to does it increase the cancer-causing particulate matter in the air from traffic congestion? does it increase pedestrian dangers? $15 million spent in the trauma ward at san francisco general because of pedestrian injuries in san francisco. with the embarcadaro being -- i consider downtown san francisco's roads have already had their heart attack and they're already a loss come out in some ways in traveling. service to all

i have lived in sro's, i'm sad to say, for a little over 22 years and i could go back in time, there has been absolutely no change in the living conditions in sro's in 22 years and often times what i hear the reason why is code enforcement. there aren't enough people to go out and check the sro's because the number of sro's so work is delayed or again there just aren't enough inspectors. and that's unfortunate. the other thing is to -- code violation, if there is enough teeth in the violation to make it mandatory that the owners do the work like with grab bars, i'm not worried about the nonprofits, what i'm concerned with are the privately owned sro's. those are the people that charge three to four hundred dollars a week for living conditions that i wouldn't have a dog live in, yet human beings here in san francisco do. and it's appalling. and i would just urge each and every one of you it not look at photographs of sro's, private sro's, but to go to one or two and see exactly what we're talking about. it would be an eye-opening experience, believe me. thank you for your time, i real
